It is necessary to strengthen health promotion at the workplace in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. This in accordance with the declaration of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) which refers to the workplace as a priority environment for health promotion in the 21st century. Occupational health and healthy work environments are among the most precious assets of individuals, communities, and countries. It is essential for the profitability of organizations to have safe and healthy workplaces, through participation and social dialogue in the creation of a positive safety and health culture; not only to achieve workers’ health, but also to make a positive contribution to productivity, quality of work life, work spirit, job satisfaction and overall quality of life of the Latin American and Caribbean workforce.
