General Objective
Explore the challenges and opportunities of social security in the region, linking foresight and futures studies with public policies that strengthen well-being and competitiveness, under the auspices of the UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies for Development and Competitiveness.
Specific Objectives

Analyze global and regional trends in social security to anticipate changes that will impact social protection systems.

Identify disruptive trends and future scenarios that impact social security and employment.

Promote dialogue among graduates, students, and faculty, strengthening the CIESS network at the international level.

Leaders and academics from Latin America share their vision for the future of social security.

“The future of health systems”
Doctor in Government and Public Policy with training in foresight from institutes in Peru, Spain, France, and Colombia. University professor and international consultant for organizations such as CIAP, IOM, FAO, and IUCN… Doctor in Government and Public Policy with training in foresight from the Institute of Foresight and Strategy of Peru, the Institute of the Future of Peru, the Ibero-American Seminar on Foresight with ECLAC, ATC INNOVA of Spain, proGective of France, and The Futures Factory of Dr. Sohail Inayatullah. Specialist in Scenario Design and Strategy.

He has served as a university professor and consultant in the public and private sectors in areas of planning, project management, evaluation, foresight, social security, social and solidarity economy, occupational health and safety, and pension systems. He has conducted consultancies for organizations such as CIAP, IOM, FAO, IUCN, and EAES.

He is a columnist for La Nación newspaper of Costa Rica, coordinator of the project Costa Rica Towards 2040: Scenarios of the New Normality, and author of the book “The evaluation of Social Responsibility as a mechanism for social compensation.” He is currently a professor and researcher at UNA and UCR.

“The future of actuarial science in a changing world”
Bachelor in Actuarial Science and Master in Actuarial Management of Social Security. Specialist in Demography and actuarial models for health protection. She collaborated with CONAPO and INEGI in Mexico, and with the Dominican Government at SISALRIL… Bachelor in Actuarial Science and Master in Actuarial Management of Social Security. Her training is complemented by two specialties: one in Demography and another in Introduction to ILO/HEALTH for the development of actuarial models on health protection.

Her professional career includes collaboration with the National Population Council and INEGI in Mexico. Internationally, she has worked with the Dominican Government at the National Statistics Office and the Superintendence of Health and Occupational Risks (SISALRIL). She was President of the Inter-American Commission on Actuarial Science and Financing (2015-2019) and a professor at undergraduate and graduate levels at INTEC.

She is currently an Actuary for the Family Health Insurance and the Occupational Risks Insurance in the Actuarial Management Directorate of SISALRIL, responsible for the oversight of technical-actuarial solvency for the sustainability of the SDSS. She represents before the Board of Directors of CIESS-CISS and coordinates the Specialty in Actuarial Calculation, Life, and Pensions at INTEC.

Doctor in Social Policy with a double degree in Social Work and Portuguese Language and Literature. She has worked in the Brazilian federal public service in the analysis and development of social policies… Doctor in Social Policy with two degrees: one in Social Work and another in Portuguese Language and Literature, a specialty in State, Social Movements, and Culture, and a Master's and Doctorate in Social Policy.

She has developed her career in the Brazilian federal public service, focusing on the analysis and development of social and social security policies. She has served as a Technical Analyst for Social Policies at the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services and the Ministry of Social Security. She worked at the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family, and the Fight Against Hunger, focusing on regulatory acts related to non-contributory assistance benefits.

Among her recent publications are “Maternity salary: new perspectives in light of legislative evolution and STF jurisprudence” and “The future of work and challenges for social protection.” She is currently the coordinator of regulatory development at the National Secretariat of Social Benefits of the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family, and the Fight Against Hunger of Brazil.
