CIESS Call for Research Stays

The Inter-American Center for Social Security Studies (CIESS) invites researchers interested in developing studies on social security to participate in the Stay Research Programme.

Objective

Driving research projects on social security through stays on-site that provide access to CIESS resources, academic support and collaborative spaces with specialists to generate knowledge that will strengthen public policies and social security practices in the Americas.

Application requirements

Complete the registration form.
Cover letter supporting enrolment to higher education institutions, research centres or CISS members institutions.
File a motivation letter (maximum one page).
Submit a research project proposal in accordance with the CIESS lines of research:
Universal coverage of old age protection in the Americas.
Social security and improvement mechanisms for effective access to health in the Americas.
Occupational risks in micro and small businesses in the Americas.
Develop a working plan and an activity schedule to be followed during the stay.
Updated CV.
Digital copy of official identification (INE for Mexican citizens or valid passport for foreigners).
Conduct a virtual interview if successful candidate is shortlisted.

Applicant's obligations

Signing a commitment letter indicating the academic obligations.
Full-time availability during the stay.
Having a valid international health insurance that covers all the stay. For Mexican applicants, affiliation to the health system must be accredited.
Drafting a final research report, as well as an executive presentation of results for dissemination among CISS member institutions.
Products resulted from the research would be considered for CIESS publications under prior assessment by the corresponding editorial committee.

Note: Participating in the Stay Research Programme does not give rise to any employment relationship between successful candidates and the Inter-American Center for Social Security Studies (CIESS), nor between them and the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS). Acceptance of the stay is an academic agreement of temporary collaboration, without giving rise to any employment rights or obligations for either party.
